Poston Project
2017
The Poston Project is an ongoing/in-progress body of work exploring notion of how a specific place can carry vestiges of events that occurred there, and how those memories may change as time passes.
My grandparents met--and married--at Poston War Relocation Center during the Japanese Internment of World War II. These works, originally derived from satellite images of the camp (now just a handful of crumbling buildings), incorporate multiple translations, both analogue and digital, that gradually abstract the images from their original source.
The work that has resulted from these explorations includes video/moving image, as well as installations and small sculptures.
